Course Description

This course examines how artificial intelligence is transforming professional services through insights from Jack Newton, CEO of Clio, a global leader in legal technology. Drawing from his experience guiding lawyers through both cloud and AI adoption, Newton shares practical lessons that apply directly to CPAs facing similar technological disruption. The course explores the critical balance between leveraging AI's efficiency benefits while maintaining professional responsibility and judgment.

Through real-world examples from the legal profession, participants will learn how early adopters gain competitive advantages, why AI requires a fundamentally different mental model than traditional tools, and how to build trust in AI through incremental adoption. The course addresses the bifurcation happening in professional services between those embracing AI and those resisting change, providing actionable strategies for CPAs to avoid being left behind while maintaining ethical standards and client trust.

  2. Distinguish between AI and traditional technology tools by recognizing how large language models differ from deterministic systems like Google or spreadsheets
  3. Apply incremental adoption strategies for AI implementation using low-stakes applications to build trust and competency
